Lummi Island Heritage Trust

within the sanctuary of the otto preserve
walking the circle, the labyrinth
seduced, beguiled by breeze
          rising energy of old second growth firs
          smooth flatness of grand fir needles
          crunch and sog of footstep
          glance of nervous doe, disappearing

slow down        see        feel
removed from the other, the outside
tracing footsteps
under some spell
treading before and after, long after
