December 5*

stars photo by Defrain

up early
not yet a glimmer of dawn
stars shot throughout
the brilliant black sky
—a rare sight here—
holding firm and
whirling in relativity—
through sleep i have
missed most of their dance
and sunblue skies have
masked the rest—
and in this cold and dark
predawn, i fill with
remorse, knowing we witness
such a small sliver
