January 12*

snow at dusk by Quinn Dombrowski

black water     cold and flat
like a vast, honed stone

          white snow
          crazed skeltering flakes
          as big as sparrows

          blanket and suffocate
          the shrunken cosmos
          of this day’s dusk

feeding the darkness.
nothing more, nothing less.
