August 2*

summer lawn

the busy blinding mind of summer’s sun
pull the weeds, cut the grass
battle the blackberries

host visitors, take vacations
work feverishly on last winter’s list
of bright sky fantasies.

          saving the poems
          for the grey moody days
          of winter
